Question of Inquiry

A question, ... or an aim, a focus, a problem, or a hypothesis must be posed for the inquiry. Questions can be organised by identifying higher order meta- questions for an entire program of research, down to details of sub- questions for particular aspects, particular categories, or specific details of topics.

Questions and topics chosen must be:

  • Substantiated. To move knowledge forward, and not 're-invent the wheel', it is necessary that research topics should be developed out of an awareness of previous work and theories by other researchers.
  • Arousing. The most essential quality to the researcher, is that topics being researched arouse their motivation, interest, curiosity and excitement.
  • Researchable. Topics and questions must have the realistic potential of being answered or at least significantly contributed to, within the time frame & practical resources available.
